10 incubators were delivered benefitting directly 1,000 farmers across 10 CBOs. Each incubator has a capacity of 528 eggs. This has motivated farmers to scale up poultry production, earning them increased incomes and enabling them to support education of their children.
By the end of the year, farmers were accessing quality chicks at lower costs from their own incubators, formulating their own feeds which has potential to reduce their costs and increase their earnings. A key success worth noting at this point is that the first batch of chicks hatched and incubated are now laying eggs. Farmers are able to access quality eggs at better costs due to reduced cost of transportation when buying eggs from far off places.
CBOs have also been introduced to online marketing and are currently able to attract bulk buyers in the Country and cut off middle men, they undertake group selling rather than gate selling.
